INTERVIEW DAY
Tips for Interview Judging
- Arrive at your interview early.
- Dress nicely for the interview.
- Greet your judge warmly with a handshake.
- Be ready to discuss positive outcomes of your project, as well as areas that didn’t turn out as well as you expected.
- Prepare for your interview by considering what you learned, and what you would do different.
Some questions you may be asked:
- Why did you choose this project?
- What did you enjoy most? What was the most difficult?
- What did you learn from the problems you en-countered? What will you do differently?
- Who helped you with the project?
- What new things did you learn?
- How will you apply what you’ve learned?
- Do you plan to continue the project next year?
Livestock interviewers may ask questions appropriate to your level, about:
- Feed records
- Break even price
- Animal health and care, medications
- Animal knowledge about breeds, anatomy
- Feed knowledge
- Meat products
- Marketing
This list doesn’t include every question you may be asked by your interviewer, but is meant to give you an idea about areas you should be ready to discuss.
