INTERVIEW DAY

Tips for Interview Judging

  • Arrive at your interview early.
  • Dress nicely for the interview.
  • Greet your judge warmly with a handshake.
  • Be ready to discuss positive outcomes of your project, as well as areas that didn’t turn out as well as you expected.
  • Prepare for your interview by considering what you learned, and what you would do different.

Some questions you may be asked:

  •  Why did you choose this project?
  • What did you enjoy most? What was the most difficult?
  • What did you learn from the problems you en-countered? What will you do differently?
  • Who helped you with the project?
  • What new things did you learn?
  • How will you apply what you’ve learned?
  • Do you plan to continue the project next year?

Livestock interviewers may ask questions appropriate to your level, about:

  •  Feed records
  • Break even price
  • Animal health and care, medications
  • Animal knowledge about breeds, anatomy
  • Feed knowledge
  • Meat products
  • Marketing

This list doesn’t include every question you may be asked by your interviewer, but is meant to give you an idea about areas you should be ready to discuss.
