JBC FAIR REGISTRATION
REMINDER July 1, 2019 is the deadline to sign-up for the JB County Fair. You may sign up on FairEntry at www.fairentry.com If you are not familiar with the FairEntry program please contact the JB County Extension Office for assistance. If you miss the deadline you will have to sign-up in person at the Judith Basin County Extension Office. There is a late fee of $5. No late entries will be taken after July 5, 2019. Sorry NO exceptions.
SHEEP CLINIC
Are you ready to show your sheep at the fair?! Join us at Brendan and Sigrid Deegan’s on Tuesday July 2, 2019 at 7:00 pm for a sheep clinic. Jackie Urick will be here. Please bring any questions you my have about sheep.
CONGRESS
Pre-Congress is July 7-9, Congress is July 9-12, 2019. Time is flying by. Are you ready for Congress? This is a great opportunity for fun, learning and meeting new friends.
4-H JUDITH BASIN COUNTY INTERVIEW SCHEDULE
August 7, 2018 Stanford School—Cafeteria 9am—11am. Interviews will be on a first come
first serve basis. As 4-H members arrive, they may proceed to any open judge within
their project area(s).
Please be there no later than 11:00 am!

INTERVIEW DAY
Tips for Interview Judging
- Arrive at your interview early.
- Dress nicely for the interview.
- Greet your judge warmly with a handshake.
- Be ready to discuss positive outcomes of your project, as well as areas that didn’t
turn out as
well as you expected. - Prepare for your interview by considering what you learned, and what you would do different.
- Some questions you may be asked:
- Why did you choose this project?
- What did you enjoy most? What was the most difficult?
- What did you learn from the problems you encountered?
- What will you do differently?
- Who helped you with the project?
- What new things did you learn?
- How will you apply what you’ve learned?
- Do you plan to continue the project next year?
Livestock interviewers may ask questions appropriate to your level, about:
- Feed records
- Break even price
- Animal health and care, medications
- Animal knowledge about breeds, anatomy
- Feed knowledge
- Meat products
- Marketing
This list doesn’t include every question you may be asked by your interviewer, but is meant to give you an idea about areas you should be ready to discuss.
4-H HORSE PROJECT CLINICS
Monday nights
July 1st, 15th. 6-9 pm will be Ranch Horse Practice: at Erickson’s Arena (4:30 pm for Level 3-4). The focus will be Horsemanship, Cattle Work, and Roping in preparation for the summer Ranch Horse Competitions. Must be enrolled in the Ranch Horse Project.
4-H Horse Assessment & Pattern Practice
This is mandatory to show in fair.
We will meet at Erickson’s Arena on Thursday July 11, 2019 at 5:00 pm. There will be a BBQ potluck (meat will be provided). Bring every horse you plan on showing at fair and all your horse project books. If the weather is questionable please call.

CENTRAL MONTANA FAIR
The CMF in Lewistown, MT starts Wednesday July 17, 2019 with Ranch Horse at 9:00 am. Friday July 19, 2019 is the Horse Show starting at 8:00 am. Fair week starts July 24, 2019 and runs through July 27, 2019.

4-H WORKING RANCH HORSE FINALS
Registration is open!
You may sign-up and pay online at www.fairentry.com or you may submit on paper and
pay with a check. Finals take place on August 24-25, 2019 at King’s arena in Great
Falls. You can find more information on the
Montana 4-H website www.montana4h.org.

you are planning to
attend the State Horse Shows this is a great place to find info such as:

JBC FAIR HELPERS
While at the fair this year check in with Katie to see if there is anything you may
help her with. This is a very
busy time. There is always and errand, message or other small job that makes everything
run smoother. Together we can accomplish much and make sure to have fun too. All of
your help is very appreciated and much needed. Thanks and have a great Fair!
4-H STATE HORSE SHOW
Livingston, MT is the place to be in September. The 4-H State Horse Show is taking
place September 13-15, 2019 at the Heart K Arena. Registration will open soon. Event
rules are posted along with more information on the Montana 4-H State Horse Show event page.
